Lifelong Learning at Swarthmore

Lifelong Learning at Swarthmore (LLS), now beginning its 17th year, is in the process of establishing a presence in the heart of Center City, Phila. This is in addition to its thriving programs in Manhattan and, in the fall semesters, Boston.

Still a small program with strictly limited enrollments, LLS continues to rely on senior Swarthmore faculty for its teaching. The students are mainly but not entirely Swarthmore alumni and family.

Last fall’s courses were “Health in America” (Philly), “Sophocles” (NYC), and “Black in America: Wright, Ellison, Morrison” (Boston).

The offerings for the spring semester are “Dante’s Divine Comedy” (Philly), to be taught by Rosaria Munson, Turner Professor of Classics and “Technological Change and Society” (NYC), with Professor of Economics John Caskey.

Both courses will meet one evening a week for eight weeks in February and March.
