Gabriel Quinn Bauriedel ’94—Founding Director Gabriel Quinn Bauriedel ’94 is the founding director of a new MFA program that unites the Pig Iron Theatre Co. and the University of the Arts’ Ira Brind School of Theater Arts. The program debuts in September and will incorporate the existing two-year devised-theater curriculum of the Pig Iron School diploma program, founded in 2011. Devised performance, a collective form of theater for which Pig Iron is renowned, is inspired primarily by the players, instead of a script. Program faculty will include fellow Pig Iron co-founders and co-artistic directors Dito Van Reigersberg ’94 and Dan Rothenberg ’95, Sarah Sanford ’99, Adrienne Mackey ’04, and Swarthmore’s Steven Lang Professor of the Performing Arts Allen Kuharski.
