Anne Chandler Fristrom ’55—Distinguished Educator Anne Chandler Fristrom ’55, an elementary school teacher and a preschool teacher and director, received the 2015 California Association of Teachers of English (CATE) Distinguished Service Award in recognition of her work as an English and language-arts teacher and her service to the organization. An attendee at 40 CATE annual conventions since 1970, Fristrom was the organization’s treasurer from 1993 to 2014 and assisted in CATE’s incorporation as a California nonprofit. Fristrom holds a master’s degree from Harvard’s School of Education and has been on the board of the Friends of the Point Loma Library for 15 years. She was the local treasurer for three National Council of Teachers of English conventions in California.
