Adele Diamond ’74—Influential Neuroscientist

Adele Diamond ’74, Canada Research Chair Professor of Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, received the Urie Bronfenbrenner Award for Lifetime Contributions to Developmental Psychology in the Service of Science and Society from the American Psychological Association in August. In September, she was ranked 13th of the top 30 Most Influential Neuroscientists Alive Today by the Online Psychology Degree Guide and delivered a TEDx talk (see: bit.ly/DiamondTEDtalk). Diamond spoke in October to the White House staff of the Office of Management and Budget about unintended negative consequences of U.S. education policy toward standardized testing and early academic instruction. She received an honorary degree this spring from Ben Gurion University in Israel.
