Daniel Schwartz ’79—Academic Leader Daniel Schwartz ’79 was appointed dean of Stanford University Graduate School of Education. A member of the Stanford faculty for 15 years, in his new role Schwartz “will provide great support and guidance to faculty and students as they work to advance learning,” says Stanford Provost John Etchemendy. Schwartz was named the Graduate School of Education Teacher of the Year in 2015 and holds the Nomellini & Oliver Professorship in Educational Technology. The author of multiple papers on learning transfer and perception in higher-order cognition, he will release his latest book in 2016. Previously, Schwartz was a professor of psychology and human development at Vanderbilt University, and he has a Ph.D. in human cognition and learning from Columbia University.
