Board Welcomes 5 Managers The Swarthmore Board of Managers welcomed five members at its September meeting. The accomplished group of alumni includes Karim Abdel-Motaal ’90, Elizabeth Economy ’84, James Gregory ’85, Nicole O’Dell Odim ’88, and Thomas Spock ’78. Abdel-Motaal, an economics major, is the founder of APQ Partners LLP in London and the former co-head of the emerging markets business for GLG Partners LLP. An award-winning author who graduated from the College with a B.A. in political science with honors, Economy is the C.V. Starr Senior Fellow and the director of Asia studies for the Council on Foreign Relations. Gregory, who holds a B.A. in history, is a partner at the international law firm Proskauer Rose LLP in New York, where he specializes in executive compensation. A media professional with a B.A. in political science and a concentration in economics, Odim owns a news service and has produced news stories for many national and international media outlets and contributed to a Pulitzer Prize–winning documentary. Spock, an economics major and the founder and partner of Scalar Media Partners LLC, was on the Board from 1997 to 2013.
