From a Whisper
Back to Black: A Celebration of African and African American Film Presents:From a Whisper commemorates the 10th anniversary of the August 1998 terrorist bombing of the U.S. Embassy in Nairobi, Kenya. The film portrays a realistic story of the bombing and its aftermath by capturing the struggle of victims and their families forced to pick up the pieces of their lives, shredded by the blast.
A drama, From A Whisper, was written and directed by Kenyan filmmaker Wanuri Kahiu. Widely praised the film won Best Picture, Best Original Soundtrack, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay and Achievement in Editing at the African Movie Academy Awards in April 2009.
