Ashwin Rao ’99
Ashwin Rao ’99 was recently honored by the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM) with the Sports Medicine Recognition Award and the Henry Galanty Young Investigator’s Award. The latter award recognizes the most outstanding research presentation by a sports medicine fellow at the AMSSM annual meeting. In addition, Rao’s research on sudden cardiac arrest in high school students was published in the August edition of Circulation, a journal published by the American Heart Association. Last year, Rao became a clinical assistant professor in the University of Washington’s department of family medicine and a physician for the sports medicine clinic after completing his sports medicine fellowship there. He serves as head team physician for the University of Washington soccer and baseball teams and as assistant team physician for the Seattle Seahawks. Rao also chairs the University of Washington’s sports academic conference curriculum and serves on the research committee of the AMSSM.
