Working With Nature
Thanks for the story about Barbara Seymour ’63 and her work creating a garden for a homeless shelter in Chester, Pa. I especially enjoyed the fact that newly released prisoners helped her, working with nature and beauty and doing good for others. I know the power that such work can generate in rehabilitation. For some time, corrections authorities have been allowing prisoners to work with service dogs and rescued horses. I think it would be wonderful to give prisoners—and released prisoners—the opportunity to work in parks and gardens, especially vegetable gardens that could help feed the hungry.
