Environmental Health & Safety
The mission of the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Office at Swarthmore College is to support and promote a culture of safety, protection, and compliance. The EHS Office fosters partnerships with faculty, staff, and students to enable them to recognize risks and work safely while promoting a safe living, working, and learning environment. The EHS Office also works to minimize injuries, illnesses, environmental impacts, and regulatory risks. This mission is achieved through policy and procedure development, injury tracking and follow up, training, hazard evaluations, hazardous materials management, and required regulatory filing.
Environmental Health & Safety encompasses the following:
- Environmental safety
- Safety training for staff, faculty, and students
- Personal protective equipment
- Hazardous and Regulated waste disposal
- Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) compliance
- Incident and insurance claims tracking
Students who have questions should first contact their Resident Advisors. Faculty and Staff members who have questions should first contact Public Safety or Human Resources for support.
