Alice Holland Named New Health and Wellness Services Director

Alice Holland

Dean of Students Liz Braun announced today that Alice Holland will join Swarthmore College on July 1 as the director of health and wellness services. Holland is currently director of Student Health Services at Quinnipiac University in Connecticut.

"Alice is known for her visionary leadership, her depth of knowledge and expertise, her ability to build strong and effective teams, her student-centered approach, and her creativity in programming," Braun says. "All of her references spoke about her skill in communication and finding ways to collaborate effectively with all constituencies. Alice displays a deep passion and enthusiasm for her work combined with genuine warmth and care for others."

In addition to her work at Quinnipiac, Holland previously served as an adjunct instructor and director of Student Health Services at the Pennsylvania State University, Berks Campus. She earned her B.S.N. and B.A. at Cedar Crest College, her MSN at Misericordia University, and her M.Ed in human sexuality at Widener University. Next week, she will defend her dissertation and complete her Ph.D. in human sexuality at Widener University. Holland is also a nationally certified family nurse practitioner and an AASECT (American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists) certified sexuality educator.

"I am enthusiastic, honored, and humbled to be joining such a vibrant and respected educational institution," Holland says. "My philosophy of a wellness model perfectly aligns with Swarthmore's vision. Like the College, I also value a liberal arts education and I am committed to diversity, inclusion, and a student-centered engagement plan. I look forward to partnering with the entire Swarthmore community to deliver exceptional service and outstanding results for our students and administration."
