Eastern Research Group

Hi! My name is Bram Duchovnay and I am an alumni from the class of 1994. I have been working for an environmental research and consulting firm called Eastern Research Group (ERG) for the last 4+ years. For the last three years, I have visited campus to recruit through the Career Planning and Placement office. This year, I would like to broaden the net, so to speak, and reach out to several specific departments within Swarthmore.

Please pass on the following information to any interested students. Pat Trinder in the career office has more detailed information about ERG's job descriptions and projects. She is collecting resumes, writing samples, and transcripts.

Traditionally, the positions that we hire for are environmental writers and editors, economic analysts, software applications developers, conference planners, environmental scientists, and environmental engineers. This year, our communications group is also looking for communication specialists, who do not necessarily need an environmental background. For this position, we are looking for strong writers, especially with some experience communicating/presenting in a variety of media (graphic design, web, print).

ERG is a non-traditional consulting firm with a diverse range of projects. Our bread and butter clients are government agenices like the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR). We recently have been working with communities and state and local government agencies through our new Smart Growth Center. We also are working more and more with the private sector on corporate communications, environmental management projects, web development, and other areas. Most of my work is curriculum development and strategic support for a non-profit education organization called The JASON Project.
